Teacher certification
8/25/06
Tried to send this prayer request to Schambach ministries to be prayed over; but the computer that I was on at Public Library, Winston-Salem would not allow me. It is a copy of a letter that I will be emailing to the local state university.8/25/06
Will be sending this email to INTRIM chancellor -Dr. M. H. V.; please pray that God will touch her heart to allow me to go to Grad School to be certified as a teacher; and that God will help me not to covenant (sp) another person's belongings. Thank You for your prayers and may peace be within thy walls._______________________________________

RE: Graduate School/Education Admittance
At the suggestion of the Better Business Bureau/W-S Office it was sugguested that an appointment be established in order to discuss issues as they effect my being admitted to School of Education/Middle Grades in 2002 and thus Graduate School for Elementary Education for the fall semester 2006.
On 8/21/06, went to the WSSU Dept of Education and was asked to leave the Dept of Education BEFORE I was allowed to ask the reasons for not being admitted to Graduate School. I applied in 2005; Ms. E. of Graduate Admissions wrote the letter on 8/21/06, stating my nonstatus in Graduate School. Ms. E. informed me that they had put the letter in the mail the week before, but when I got to her office, she asked me to wait while she typed it up and that she had been told that the letter had been put in the mail; which I feel was/is one of the great hinderance to my being admitted to Graduate School, not receiving correct information. Even if I did not attend Graduate School in the Education Department; there were other options available in terms of Graduate programs in which I could have pursued.
On 8/21/06 after being given the letter by Ms. E.. I tried to follow the porotcol to address the situation, as suggested by Ms. L.of Graduate Admissions that I go and speak to Dr. C. J-H. Dean; but wasn't allowed to, so would appreciate an appointment at your earliest convience, with the hope of still attending Graduate School. And as was told to me, everybody at WSSU works together, as if to insinuate that I would be wasting my time, but I am sure you would want to know when your employees/staff members are not doing thier jobs, unless abusing students, giving wrong information and just flat out lying is part of their job; along with ensuring that African Americans remain intellectually inferior and unprepared for the future.
My desire was/is to go to Graduate School specifically in the Education Department. Misinformation given to me at WSSU, impeded my ability to make decisions which were vital to my being in Graduate School/Education Department. Just as my not being given an advisor impeded my entrance into the School of Education to be certified as a teacher. It was vital that I have an advisor and it took them almost three years before they would respond to my status in the School of Education or issues surrounding my not having adequate advisement. Having an advisor that harasses and abuses you is not adequate advisement.
Being that W-S State University is a public institution, one would think that the personnel would welcome all students, especially those who want to teach, being that there is a shortage of teachers. But then again maybe not, because if the personnel at a predominately African American School goes to such lengths to keep African Americans from being certified as teachers (Middle Grades or Elemetary)even though there is a big shortage, then it is just about guaranteed that the jails will remain full. Why can't I become certified as a teacher? Why are the people in the WSState University School of Education working so hard to ensure that I am not certified as a teacher?
I can't make anybody let me in Graduate School/Education; just like I can't certify myself as a teacher, but I can guarantee; that for every African American that is and has been turned away and denied the opportunity to become a certified teacher; the jails have already been and are being built to house them. And as they grow, because they will grow; W-S State University can stand tall and proud for helping to deny African Americans the opportunity to become certified as a teachers/Elementary or Middle Grades, which was one of the main reasons the school was started in the first place.
When I came to WSSU in 2002 it was to be certified as a Middle Grades Teacher; I was told that was impossible because WSSU does not offer money for Grad School, and I would have to do a second degree. So I pursued a second degree in Middle Grades Education; that didn't happen because they would not give me an advisor as requested or respond to my status in the WSState University School of Education; not to mention that my immunization records were lost by the WSSU School of Education and the Student Infirmary. All their actions seem to works toward encouraging me to not become a teacher and to hinder the progress and process of my becoming a teacher.
I can understand a univeristy teaching students that they will be abused; but to teach them that there is nothing they can do about the abuse it to teach them to be inferior or worse. I do not understand why WSSU does not at least teach them how to deal with the abuse instead of accepting the abuse; unless it is a known fact that there is nothing that the students can do about the abuse; then why attend a university?
I would appreciate an appointment at your earliest convience with the hope of still attending Graduate School to discuss being admitted to School of Education/Middle Grades in 2002 and thus Graduate School for Elementary Education for the fall semester 2006. Please know that late admittance/cathing up as they call it has not been a problem for me.
Wouldn't it be interesting to see how many of the students from WSState University end up in jail, seems like a separate issue, doesn't it; but how long will it take to connect the dots?
Thank You,
